Why You Should Visit Finland!

Why You Should Visit Finland!

Posted by Connor Whelan on 2nd Dec 2015

With winter well and truly upon us many people are enjoying the chance to wrap up warm in their festive jumpers and are starting to get into the spirit of the season. However, with the weather being rather dreary and grey you may have considered escaping these shores and heading over to a more picturesque winter setting. This is why you should visit Finland!

Visit Finland

This Nordic country is home to scenes of breathtaking wilderness and spectacular wildlife, and here at The Great Projects we can help you to plan your winter holidays to Finland! We offer two tours which both give you the chance to take part in activities which are unique to Finland, and truly are once in a lifetime undertakings.

If you do choose to visit Finland, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in the rituals and activities of the locals, and as a result you can:

  • Join a Husky wilderness trek heading through the thick, abundant forests

Finland Husky Sled

  • Watch the incredibly diverse wildlife of the country, including wolves and bears from hides

Finland Bear

  • Track Reindeer and have the chance to see their calves close up!

  • Take in the sights and sounds of Finland on a canoeing tour

As well as these incredible activities which you will struggle to do elsewhere in the world, you will of course have the chance to see the world-famous northern lights (or aurora borealis as they are also known), but only if the conditions are just right!

Aurora Borealis

Finland is an amazing country, and if you are looking to visit a true winter wonderland to relax after the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush then it is the country for you. With an abundance of wildlife, some of which is endemic to Finland, on show alongside a host of national traditions and pastimes, it is a fantastic place to visit for animal and culture lovers alike. If you want to find out more about the trips we offer to Finland then you can click here to see more information about both the Nordic Wilderness Adventure Tour and the Kuhmo Husky Safari and the Aurora Borealis Tour!
