Travel Insurance for Volunteers

If you are travelling on one of our Great Projects you may now be looking for the best travel insurance for your upcoming trip. If, however, you are still in the process of booking do not forget to mention travel insurance to us.

Most people who go on any type of volunteering project or holiday find it difficult to acquire the correct travel insurance. This is why we, at The Great Projects have our very own bespoke, project specific, travel insurance to offer our volunteers, from just £10.99 per week. This means that when you travel on anyone of our Great Projects you will be able to attain, directly from us, insurance that will cover you for exactly what you will be doing whilst volunteering abroad.

We believe that safety and enjoyment are equally important when travelling with The Great Projects; it is therefore, one of our terms and conditions of booking that you have adequate travel insurance in place before you travel with us.

The Great Projects is working in partnership with Endsleigh, to offer our travellers a policy which has been specifically designed to meet their requirements whilst on their gap year.

This insurance cover is for volunteers aged between 16 - 65 and has 100 sports and activities covered as standard. This insurance is on behalf of Endsleigh, a leading supplier of travel insurance owned by Zurich with its insurance policies underwritten by Zurich. Please note that scuba diving at depths of over 30 metres and cage diving with great white sharks is not covered in this policy.

There are 2 types of policies that you can select from, depending on the type of volunteer project or signature tour you are taking part in. These are as follows:

  1. Insurance policy 1 (Standard Volunteering)
This will cover you for all of our projects which do not have any hands on animal contact, however, the use of power tools is restricted.
  2. Insurance policy 2 (Volunteering with animal contact)
This will cover you for any project that may have animal contact as part of the activities but also restricts the use of power tools.
