Earlier this year Moira visited the Great Turtle Project over in Sri Lanka and she was kind enough to tell us a little about her experiences whilst helping save the turtles!

What was the highlight of your trip?

Having the privilege to work up close and personal with such fascinating creatures, and learn a lot about turtles during my stay.

Sea Turtle

Would you go back or to any other trips?

Yes, I would like to work on the Great Barrier Reef and help save the wildlife there.

Any tips for new travellers?

I have one quite simple message and that is to expect the unexpected.

Did the trip inspire you to help animal conservation in any other ways?

Baby Turtles

Yes, it made me realise how much tourism effects conservation in many different ways. There are lots of pros and some cons to the industry, so this is something I will watch out for in the future.

Why do you think people need to travel?

People DEFINITELY need to travel more out to the unknown to get a grasp of real culture and work ethics.
