August 19th marks World Orangutan Day, a time in which we turn our attention to one of the most critically endangered species on earth. With their numbers plummeting by 75% in the past 100 years, the threats faced by these vulnerable great apes are almost insurmountable, and they need our help if they’re to survive.
In light of this important occasion, The Great Projects are offering 15% off two of our amazing orangutan volunteer experiences. You can head to The Great Orangutan Project in Kuching, spending time at the Matang Wildlife Centre and aiding in the preservation of orangutans. Alternatively, take part on a vital conservation experience with the world-renowned IAR (International Animal Rescue), and help towards the rehabilitation of Ketapang’s orangutans.
This 15% discount is available for ONE DAY ONLY (today, 19th August), so if you want to take part, now is the time to book your place! To find out more about the threats orangutans face and how you can help them, check out our infographic just below.

Come face to face with one of the world’s most misunderstood predators whilst aiding great white shark conservation. As a volunteer, not only will you get the incredible opportunity to dive with sharks, but you will also assist the team in raising awareness of the great white as you work alongside tourists and local school children to provide them with knowledge of the local environment and the importance of living in harmony with South Africa’s marine life.
