The following review was written by Florian who volunteered at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary for 2 weeks in August 2021:

Driving to the Sanctuary

Spending two weeks at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary was the best thing that could have happened to me! Just after booking my stay at the sanctuary, the team at The Great Projects immediately reached out to me and helped me with organizing the required documents for entering the country. When I arrived at the airport in Windhoek, I and other volunteers got picked up and got transported to the camp by an employee of the sanctuary. There I felt welcomed from the first moment! Corné and Heidi introduced the new volunteers to the group and we got to know each other really quick.

Cheetah Walk

Working with people with the same mindset is really cool. Going for a walk with the small baboons, feeding the predators or walking with the cheetahs' Bullet, Bolt and Flash are some of my favourite highlights. In general, I could say all activities are a highlight since even preparing the food and feeding the small animals is an awesome experience. And then there's driving inside the reserve to watch for rhinos, elephants or wild dogs. It is all amazing.

Rhino and Lion

There are also some opportunities to go to other places within Namibia, but unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to do so. Friends who did were excited! And if you’re lucky then you can join Rudi on a flight over the picturesque landscape of Namibia!

Rudi's Plane and Baboon Walk

Besides getting to know people from all over the world, you can connect to them really fast and on a much deeper level! Helping local people, doing good things, caring about the animals and also learning about the culture, the wildlife and yourself is something I really appreciated. Much more, sitting at the campfire, playing games, and watching the stars in the middle of nowhere is something I miss since the day I left Namibia. If you go there, you will for sure not regret your decision!

Camp Fire and Stars

A huge thank you to Florian for his review and amazing photos!
