A baboon coming into the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary is not a new phenomenon as these cheeky monkeys often need the assistance of the sanctuary after being abandoned when people realise that they do not make good pets. However, on Sunday the 8th January, a baboon came to the sanctuary whose back story was even more tragic than the norm.
Demi arrived at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary with a broken leg and was desperately in need of medical attention.
The cause of her injury was unknown, but the staff at the sanctuary knew that something needed to be done fast.
Fortunately, the onsite veterinary team were able to operate on her quickly and the procedure to fix her broken leg went without a hitch. The surgery that Demi went through will restore her mobility and enable her to get back to her mischievous baboon ways in no time at all!
Demi may be tiny, but her recuperation is going well and she is lapping up all of the loving attention she is receiving from the team at the sanctuary. The hope is that soon she will be able to join up with the current baboon troop and begin to explore her new home.
