Introducing a brand new, once-in-a-lifetime project: The Great Rhino Rescue Mission! As poaching threats escalate in South Africa, the SanWild Sanctuary & Reserve is preparing to spearhead a number of critical rhino rescues and relocations from a nearby rhino breeding farm.

By joining this project, you’ll have the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a vital recovery mission of a highly endangered species. You’ll assist the ground team in health checks after the rhino has been darted, and help with the collaring, dehorning, and loading of the rhino into the translocation trailer. Finally, you’ll release the rhino into the safety of SanWild's 3,000-hectare reserve.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in a helicopter ride to gain a bird's-eye view and receive a briefing from the aerial team regarding the mission. As a token of appreciation for your crucial role in facilitating the entire operation, you and your volunteer group will have the honour of naming the rhino that you assist in rescuing and releasing!

While joining this project, you will also have the pleasure of staying at the exquisite SanWild Lodge. In addition, you will partake in a variety of amazing conservation activities that occur daily at the sanctuary and reserve. From feeding the resident lions to tracking the elephant herd and joining counter-poaching patrols in neighbouring reserves, there's no shortage of impactful experiences awaiting you.

This project is currently available for limited dates this September, so don’t miss your chance to aid the conservation of this iconic species.
