Discover the meaning of ‘pura vida’, and pay a visit to the beautiful nation of Costa Rica!
Since we’re in the full swing of summer and still riding high on the excitement of our latest launch, we’ve decided to spend the month celebrating Costa Rica. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking at the top things to do in this incredible country, as well as taking a look at the awesome animals native to the land. But first, we have another announcement to make…
Our Costa Rican volunteer experiences are now on sale, with 10% off until the end of the month!
After such a brilliant launch for our Sloth Conservation and Wildlife Experience (with so many of you enquiring immediately after the project went live), we’ll be continuing the low introductory rate for this project until the end of the month. But as excited as we all are about the sloths, monkeys, and anteaters on this brand-new project, we must not forget about the other fantastic project that calls Costa Rica home: head to Ojochal, and pay a visit to the Costa Rica Turtle Volunteer Experience – also with 10% off until July 31st!
As amazing as Costa Rica is (and, trust us, it really is an incredible country), we must not lose sight of the ultimate goal: to protect the animals that share the planet with us. And with 25% of Costa Rica’s wildlife listed as rare (a further, larger percentage of which is considered vulnerable), something must be done to preserve the extraordinary species which call the country home.
We are heading into vital times for Costs Rica’s wildlife, with the rainy season upon us and therefore the forests being at their most lush and active. With verdant flora, comes an influx of fauna…and, as such, a bigger risk of poaching activities, or loss of life through deforestation. Add to that the fact that turtle season is fast approaching, and as the females return to hatch their eggs (the babies being born a few months down the line), we need to do more to aid this important phase of life for the animals.
Whether taking part in night patrols on the beach to monitor turtles and protect them from threat, or taking part in the rehabilitation of sloths, monkeys or anteaters, the time to consider volunteering in Costa Rica is now. Head over to our destination page, and see which project is for you!
