- Visiting 4 cave systems, each with their own ecosystems to explore
- Seeing the natives of the Batu Bungan Penan Settlement
This in depth tour will take you deep into an area of Borneo which is hidden from many. You will have the chance to experience the differing ecosystems in the caves themselves as well as the towering cliffs, dense jungles and local settlements which form the Mulu National Park.
After arriving into Mulu Airport you will be met at arrivals and transferred to your National Park chalet giving you the chance to take in the sights and sounds of this tranquil park. After dropping off your bag you will head off to the parks headquarters where you will be able to walk the 3km raised plank walk accompanied by your guide to explore the largest cave passage in the world, the Deer Cave. Here you will get the chance to admire the lively ecosystem in the cave before being taken to your next stop which is Lang Cave. Here you will get to see the Guano deposits left by the bats and then come the evening, the bats themselves as they leave the cave in search of food. After this you will return to the chalet for dinner and a well earned rest.
After breakfast, your exploration of the Mulu Caves will continue and you will take a boat to Clearwater Cave. The crystal clear waters in this cave present the perfect chance to cool off and escape the tropical temperatures, so you will have the chance to swim and explore the cave. A picnic lunch is then served by the river before you are taken to explore the Wind Cave, so called because of the cool breeze that stems from its entrance. Once you have thoroughly explored the Wind Cave and it's glistening stalactites and stalagmites, you will proceed to the Batu Bungan Penan Settlement to observe their tribal lifestyle and handicraft heritage. Following this you will head back to the chalet to enjoy dinner.
Today is your final day in Mulu National Park and so after breakfast you will be transferred back to Mulu Airport for your onward flight or independent travel plans.
