- Visiting 4 cave systems, each with their own ecosystems to explore
- Witnessing the beauty of the Bornean jungle
This in depth tour will take you deep into an area of Borneo which is hidden from many. You will have the chance to experience the differing ecosystems in the caves themselves as well as the towering cliffs, and dense jungles which form the Mulu National Park.
After arriving into Mulu Airport you will be met at arrivals and transferred to your National Park chalet giving you the chance to take in the sights and sounds of this tranquil park. After dropping off your bag you will head off to the park's headquarters where you will be able to partake on the 3km raised plank walk, accompanied by your guide, to explore the largest cave passage in the world; the Deer Cave. Here you will get the chance to admire the lively ecosystem in the cave before being taken to your next stop which is Lang Cave. In this stunning location you will get to see the Guano deposits left by the bats and then come the evening, the bats themselves as they leave the cave in search of food. After this you will return to the chalet for dinner and a well earned rest.
After breakfast you will be picked up from your accommodation and proceed by longboat upriver to Wind Cave with its impressive ‘King’s Chamber’. Here, you will be able to see both stalactites and stalagmites covering the surface of the cave. Following this you will take part in a short plank-walk alongside the limestone cliff, followed by a climb up approximately 250 concrete steps and you will then arrive at the entrance to Clearwater Cave. Like most caves in Mulu, Clearwater Cave provides a habitat for a host of unique plant species and one of which can only be found at Mulu! Near Clearwater Cave there is a wonderful swimming area shaded by giant rainforest trees. Enjoy a simple picnic or packed lunch, swim or relax before returning to your accommodation. Breakfast and lunch are provided today.
Today is your final day in Mulu National Park and so after breakfast you will be transferred back to Mulu Airport for your onward flight or independent travel plans.
