Itinerary

This short, guided tour will take you into an area of Borneo that is hidden away from many. You will adventure into four intricate cave passages which are among the largest and longest cave systems in the world as you immerse yourself in the towering limestone cliffs and dense tropical jungles that form Mulu National Park.

Day 1

Day 1: Deer and Lang Caves

After arriving into Mulu Airport, you will be met at arrivals and transferred to your National Park chalet. After checking into your accommodation, you’ll have time to grab some lunch before beginning a 3km raised plank walk through the rainforest to the entrance of Deer Cave. Here, you will get the chance to admire one of the largest cave passages in the world and the lively ecosystem within, before heading to your next stop; Lang Cave. This cave is slightly smaller in stature but just as impressive with its jellyfish rock formations cascading down the walls. Then, as the sun sets, you’ll head to the Bat Observatory where you may be lucky enough to witness a 2 million strong exodus of bats as they descend into the night’s sky in search of food. After this spectacular wildlife display, you will return to your chalet for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Day 2

Day 2: Clearwater Cave and Wind Cave

After breakfast, you’ll board a longboat upriver to the Cave of Winds. As you venture through the cavern, feeling the cool breeze as you go, you’ll arrive at the ‘King’s Chamber’ which is filled with impressive chandelier-like stalactites and pillars of stalagmites, demonstrating the majesty of this chamber over the rest. Following on, you will take a short plank walk alongside the limestone cliff before climbing approximately 250 concrete steps to the entrance of Clearwater Cave. The winding waters through the cave are a spectacular sight, and like most caves in the park, Clearwater Cave provides a habitat for a host of unique plant species, one of which can only be found within Mulu! You’ll then have the opportunity to take a dip in the clear waters at a swimming spot located just outside the cave. Here, you can relax in the natural limestone-filtered waters surrounded by towering rainforest as you reconnect with nature and enjoy a leisurely picnic before returning to your accommodation in the afternoon.

Day 3

Day 3: Depart Mulu

Today is your final day in Mulu National Park, and after a leisurely breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Mulu Airport for your onward flight or independent travel plans.
