Our new turtle conservation project is located in Costa Rica and as this is a destination which many people do not know much about, we thought we would help you out by suggesting a few places to visit after you’ve been on the project. Here are our top 3!
The La Paz Waterfall Gardens
These gardens are nestled deep in the jungle and are a great place to see more of the countries natural sites up close and personal. Alongside the incredibly beautiful waterfall you will have the chance to see many different birds, butterflies and monkeys all in this amazing location.
Pura Adventura
Based at a 150 year old cattle ranch, this Pura Adventura is one of the best places to go on a thrilling zip-line in the entire country. On the canopy they have 11 cables, a swinging bridge and a rappel which are all designed to give you a very unique viewpoint as you zip through the forest!
Rio Celeste
The Celeste River is in the Tenorio National Park and if you make the trip to see it you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The trek to the falls can be tough for some, but it is well worth it to see the sparkling blue waters in the heart of the jungle.
Now there are obviously a lot of other things you could do whilst in Costa Rica, but we chose these activities to give you a taste of what you can do out there. These activities could be the perfect thing to do before or after you have visited the turtle project we have out there, and you can find out more information about that here!

Come face to face with one of the world’s most misunderstood predators whilst aiding great white shark conservation. As a volunteer, not only will you get the incredible opportunity to dive with sharks, but you will also assist the team in raising awareness of the great white as you work alongside tourists and local school children to provide them with knowledge of the local environment and the importance of living in harmony with South Africa’s marine life.
