You may have seen if you were keeping an eye on our social media accounts, but this Tuesday was 'World Orangutan Day'.

To celebrate the day and highlight the problems facing orangutans today, we thought that we would share this video from charity 'International Animal Rescue' about rescued orangutan Pelangsi.

Pelangsi was a wild orangutan, rescued in April 2012 by IAR. Shockingly, he was trapped in a snare for at least 10 days. Unfortunately, this resulted in him having to have his right hand and half his arm amputated.

After months of treatment and rehabilitation by the fantastic team at IAR, he was able to be released back into the wild!

Have a look at the video below and see for yourself. Without IAR's help, Pelangsi, like many other orangutans, would most likely not have survived, so if you could spare your time to join this orangutan project and help many more orangutans like Pelangsi that need your help!

If you would like to see the fantastic work of IAR for yourself and help in integral orangutan conservation, then why not join the IAR orangutan project in Ketapang? We still have a few spaces throughout the year and we have many spaces next year – so what are you waiting for? If you would like to join, then please don't hesitate to 'Enquire or Book Now' via our website here.

Alternatively, if you would like to donate to IAR directly, then please don't hesitate to visit their website here.

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone!

The Great Projects Team.
