In 2023, the team at The Great White Shark Project encountered hundreds of sharks while out collecting data off the coast of Gansbaai, including numerous sightings of great white sharks.

The infographic below details the sightings of great whites and other shark species, including bronze whaler, sevengill cow and hammerhead sharks.

As a volunteer on The Great White Shark Project, you can expect to see a variety of shark species when out at sea, as well as a variety of other species such as penguins, seals, dolphins and whales.
