You may remember that on June 3rd we brought you news that the new baby playground at the Samboja Lestari Orangutan Sanctuary had been completed after months of hard work by volunteers. Well, today we can bring you even more good news as the young apes have been released onto their new playground for the first time!
We've put together a short video showing you the first time the baby orangutans were released out onto the new playground, and as you can see it didn't take them long to adapt to their new home!
Kate, the volunteer coordinator over in Borneo, has sent us some pictures of the excitable young orangs as they explored their new climbing frames and ropes, so let’s take a look at them now!
This young orangutan was clearly thinking about what to explore next!
The excitement all got a little bit too much and this youngster needed a rest!
Playing is more fun when you have friends, especially if you are an orangutan!
We have a new orangutan hide and seek champion!
It's important to stretch before a big play session...
When the chance arrives for you to pose for the camera you just have to take it...
The new playground will form a crucial part of the rehabilitation process for these young apes as it will help them learn the climbing and balancing skills they will need to one day survive in the wild. We want to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers whose hard work and donations have made this all possible, so...
Thank You Everyone!
