Black Rhino Conservation

The black rhino is one of the most iconic animals in the world. People flock to Africa from across the globe to see them in their natural habitat, although spotting them is becoming increasingly difficult. This is because there is only about 5,000 left. They have been hunted by poachers almost to the point of extinction. This is primarily driven by the high prices that these poachers can get for rhino horn on the black market. The situation is therefore critical, which is why projects involved in black rhino conservation are so important.

You can take part in these projects as a volunteer. You will work on a number of tasks and initiatives that help to protect the black rhino and increase their numbers. The projects involve other animals like big cats and elephants, and you will get the opportunity to encounter those animals too. The main projects that we offer that involve rhinos are the Victoria Falls Conservation Experience in Zimbabwe and the Zululand Wildlife Conservation Project in South Africa.
