Are you an animal lover? If you’ve always dreamed of holidaying amongst wildlife, then perhaps you should consider taking part in volunteer work with animals abroad. With more than 35 wildlife conservation projects to choose from (and a selection of tour opportunities to boot), The Great Projects can provide you with the perfect place to begin your animal adventure.
From the jungles of Borneo to the vast desert plains of Africa, our volunteers have the chance to take part in animal volunteer work against the backdrop of some truly magnificent destinations. What’s more, your experience promises to make a lasting difference to wildlife conservation efforts even long after you return home – so while you’re looking back on your favourite photos from your trip, donations taken from your volunteer fee will continue to be put to good use, helping to secure the future of the animals and communities you’ve left behind.
If you’re passionate about travel and are keen to aid wildlife conservation efforts around the globe, we’re sure that there’s a volunteer project perfect for you, right here at The Great Projects.
Volunteering has become one of the most popular ways to spend your holiday in recent times, but this is not just a passing trend. If you’re the kind of traveller who wants to make a difference, then volunteering could be one way to open up the world to you even more. Visit far-flung destinations, take part in meaningful conservation work, and gain some unforgettable memories in the meantime! Your volunteer experience could see you aid habitat restoration, animal rescue and rehabilitation, and you might even have the opportunity to assist local communities. However you choose to volunteer with The Great Projects, one thing is for sure: this will be an experience you’ll never forget.
Our projects are suitable for people of all ages and abilities – from our family projects to solo or group endeavours, we have a range of volunteer opportunities for you to choose from. Of course, some projects may be a little tougher than others, but no matter if you’d prefer something a little easier or are keen to get stuck in, we’re here to help you find your perfect match. What’s more, you can join a project any day of the year – just take a look at your preferred options and be sure to check out the available start dates, or let our project finder do the work for you!
Your activities will vary from project to project, but working with animals will always be interesting no matter what you get up to! Just a few examples of volunteer tasks include enrichment creation for orangutans, game drives in Africa, panda feeds in China, and much more. While our projects are enjoyable and exciting, however, it’s important to remember that each of these activities are carried out with the animals’ best interests in mind – so work well beside your project coordinator and fellow volunteers to ensure that you have a meaningful travel experience.
