Here at The Great Projects, we are often asked ‘Why do I have to pay to volunteer’? In simple terms, the majority of your project fee goes overseas to cover the cost of your time spent volunteering, with the rest going towards a wide variety of other expenses which are outlined below. If volunteers did not pay for their places on the projects, then the projects themselves would simply be unable to run.
One of the main elements of the project fees are the built-in donations, and the projects rely on these to provide for the animals in their care. By not only offering your time, but by also providing a conservation donation by way of your fee, you’re ensuring that your efforts to help protect the world’s most threatened species will continue long after you’ve returned home. In short: your yearly holiday could leave a lasting impact, creating a legacy for the project and the animals you’ve chosen to help.
