Valentine's Day 2017

Today is Valentine's Day, and we've all got love on the brain. You may find yourself battling hordes of romantics to the front of the queue in Thornton’s, desperate to grab that last box of heart-shaped chocolates. Or maybe you’ve had your eye on a beautiful bouquet for your beloved, but the waiting list to order is seemingly never-ending? Step away from the crowd and create a unique experience you'll never forget, by booking a place on one of our trips.

The Great Projects are proud to provide experiences unlike any other: whether you and your partner have always dreamed of getting up close to elephants in Sri Lanka, or if you've fantasized about a safari-style expedition in Africa, we are here to whisk you away on the adventure of a lifetime.

But it's not only couples that we care about. This Valentine’s Day, we will be offering an exclusive discount to any pair booking their adventure with the code ‘TGPLove’ – for every two-person booking, we’ll give you 10% off of the overall cost. Whether your travel with your partner, your best friend or even your parent, you're entitled to the discount! Consider it a gift, from us to you…

You’re probably wondering, though: 'which trip is right for us?' While the discount is applicable to all of our projects, we thought we’d help you out by selecting just a few of our top, out-of-this world experiences that we really think you'll love...

For…the wild at heart

Baby cheetah

When it comes to breath-taking destinations, Africa must be one of the best in the world. With its stunning landscapes and an abundance of incredible wildlife, you’ll never be far from adventure on this continent. With that in mind, Namibia is our top pick for anybody looking to take a walk on the wild side.

Namibia is highly revered for its diverse wildlife, stunning sand dunes and, of course, its keen interest in animal conservation. By taking part in our Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary project, you’ll be creating the memories of a lifetime…all while working towards a better future for the abundance of animals that call this area home! Big cats, baboons and wild dogs all reside here, and you’ll be able to take part in such activities as bottle-feeding baby monkeys, feeding carnivores, and even spending one-to-one time with animals on the farm…such as cheetah cubs! To find out more, head here now.

For…the culture-curious

Tribe

If culture is more your thing, our Orangutan and Tribes tour is the perfect option. Not only will you find yourself immersed in a unique jungle experience and taking unforgettable jungle treks (with the opportunity to see beautiful orangutans in the wild!), but you’ll also have the chance to live amongst the indigenous Bidayau community. Learn about the culture of the tribe, from its history of head-hunting to the long-held tradition of dance!

Elsewhere, you’ll be able to pay a visit to the award-winning Matang Wildlife Centre, as well as stopping by at the Semenggoh Nature Reserve and three national parks. Throughout this experience, you’ll see a number of fantastic wildlife species (such as green turtles, sun bears and macaques); the stars of the show though are, of course, the amazing orangutans!

For…the dream destination

Perhentian islands

If you care most about ‘location, location, location…’, then look no further than our Perhentian Island Marine Project! Renowned for their pristine beaches and tranquil, clear waters, the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia are rising in popularity – so beat the crowd and find your place on the project now! This particular trip is one of the best ‘value for money’ options, with 20 days here costing only £1195 (this includes your PADI open water qualification and all meals…and that’s before your exclusive discount!)

In terms of the flora and fauna you’ll see on this project, prepare to get up close and personal with stunning turtle species and beautiful marine life, as well as checking out the natural reefs…and doing your part to ensure their survival. And while you’re there, why not get to know the locals? Malaysia is well-renowned for its incredibly friendly people, and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to know them through visiting the local fisherman’s village, or by spending your spare time on Sundays venturing out to other bays in the region. Be sure to try some traditional Malay food, too – the cuisine here is world-renowned and must not be missed!

For…the unique experience
