The Great Projects is proud to bring you our selection of online animal welfare diploma courses. These diplomas, awarded and accredited by the NCFE and lantra, have been designed to give the learners basic skills and knowledge in areas such as wildlife rescue and animal ethics. We have long searched and found the courses that we think would be most beneficial for those interested in animal welfare and those interested in starting along the road to a career in conservation.

For those interested in a career in conservation we believe that both theoretical and practical experience is key. It is because of this that not only are we offering these courses to you but are also offering reductions of 20% in the price of our‘Great Orangutan Project’ when twinned with any of these courses.

If you are considering a career in conservation and know that you love animals and really want to do more, then this course is a low cost route to see whether the theoretical side is something you could really get involved in too. However, if you already have theoretical knowledge and it is the practical side you want to experience then you may want to consider visiting our orangutan rehabilitation center. If you are a student at the moment then you will be entitled to our 15% student discount (only on 'The Great Orangutan Project' and not in conjunction with the fore mentioned offer) .

The courses can be started whenever you like and are all run online, however, there is a possibility to do it by mail although this will incurr an additional £40 charge. There is no time limit on each course or on each module although on average people usually spend about month on each module.

How can these online courses help with a career in conservation?

All students receive a free copy of our Working with Animals ebook; as well as comprehensive careers information. This resource also has links and direct contact information for organisations with the latest jobs with animals worldwide. Volunteering is the best way to gain hands-on experience and this coupled with a relevant qualification will enhance a student's career and employment prospects. Often organisations are more likely to accept volunteers if they are studying or have a relevant qualification. Once students have a qualification, we suggest that they register their CV so that potential employers can find them and they can also search for jobs.

The Animal Ethics and Welfare course is geared more for those wanting a career in animal welfare or campaigning but of course is also of great interest to anyone interested in working with animals. The Wildlife First Aid, Rescue and Rehab course is designed for those who want to work specifically with wildlife and for those already involved in the rescue, care and rehabilitation of wildlife

We are also in the process of creating a new course for all you oranagutan enthusiasts: This course has been prepared for anyone interested in working in a voluntary or paid capacity with primates and primate conservation.
